Filmed on location in La Caleta on the island of Tenerife, on the occasion of the annual festival celebrating the patron saint of Saint Sebastian, January 2020. The footage, shot over a period of five hours, explores the the vibrancy and passion of the celebration and the participants through the rituals of religion, cultural heritage and performance. Via the editing process, the film itself mainly focuses on the the horses and riders that play such a pivotal part in the unfolding of the day, exploring and enhancing the musicality and choreography of diegetic sounds and ritualised activity. As a parallel narrative, the film captures and explores the sexualised, fetishised and gender roles enacted and performed within this vibrant and often 'charged' arena.
